Rita Rudner got her start in show business as a dancer on the Broadway stage. After six years of performing nonstop in such musicals as "Zorba," "Annie," and "Follies," Rita decided to pursue something else in show business where a solo female could make herself a name. Stand up comedy was a wide open arena and Rita found herself wrapped up in it. Today Rita is recognized world wide as one of the funniest, off-beat female stand ups in the world.
She has performed on numerous television shows including "The Tonight Show," "Late Night With David Letterman," and HBO's "Women of the Night." She has the distinct honor of having received the 1990 American Comedy Award for Best Female Comedian and of being the first woman ever to be "Roasted" by the Friars Club.
