Watch a revival of the Follies, featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a manuscript by James Goldman. The musical tells the story of 2 couples who attend a reunion in a crumbling Broadway theater scheduled for demolition. Both couples—Buddy and Sally Durant Plummer and Benjamin and Phyllis Rogers Stone—are unhappy with their marriages. The reunion makes them remember their past and, at the same time, face the harsh realities of the present.
Follies features a 28-piece orchestra and a cast of 41; it echoes the songs, exuberance, and romance of the vaudeville days between the 2 World Wars. The score features some of Stephen Sondheim's best-known songs, including "Broadway Baby," "I'm Still Here," "Too Many Mornings," "Could I Leave You?" and "Losing My Mind."
